Phone calls from IPPS about Prof. Fellgett and Pederson's alteration of JSI Board Minutes Miss Mayston of IPPS phoned and we had a long discussion about Prof. Fellgett and the JSI Board Minutes. She said she was in a difficult position - Mr. Pedersen insisted on altering them. Afterwards Pedersen phoned and more or less agreed with my version of the Minutes. He said it is the responsibility of the Managing Editor to get Minutes out quickly. "No doubt", I said, "but they should be accurate".
Mockery at an IEE Committee but all helpful 1500 Electronics Design Conference Organising Committee. Russell (involved in EEV episode) & Waddington (M.I.) absent. J.D. Tucker of EMI said "hallo Dr. Beck" with a smirk. Later in the meeting he said he would do anything for Mr. Beck - he would send out publicity on the Conference with EMI literature which would mean that 5000 copies would go all over the world. There was constant deference to my position as Chairman. All were helpful.
Prof. J. Ring interested in taking over chairmanship of JSI Board 1530 Called on Prof. J. Ring. He would be interested in Chairmanship - but he thought I had got JSI taped.
Farewell to JSI Board with exhortation to attend Publications Committee I attended my last meeting of the JSI Board. I announced my resignation. Prof McGee said how much they had enjoyed my Chairmanship. There was strong pressure to get me to the next meeting of Publications Committee despite the fact that I was no longer a member of the JSI Board.
Kind words from Dunworth Letter from Dunworth saying they were “sorry we shall no longer have your direct help”.
A barrister says "someone is trying to destroy you" and names a tough solicitor I called on Tom Salkeld Green, a barrister member of my Lodge, and left him some papers. I had an appointment to see John Coales so I arranged to call back later in the day. When I called back Tom Salkeld-Green, having read the papers, said "someone is trying to destroy you". He gave me the name of a tough solicitor - F.E. Mostyn.
