PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL.
RESEARCH DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES.
SEPTEMBER 1965 ONWARDS.
1. CONCENTRATE ON AUTOMATIC TEST EQUIPMENT.
Essentially designing, manufacturing ,marketing, commissioning A.T.E. i.e. a systems activity corresponding to Dymec. To cover both military and civil requirements (e.g. M.A.T.E. and production testing respectively). M.I's position in the M.A.T.E. competition will be strengthened. Some members of the staff will be able to work on M.A.T.E. when required and on the civil side between contracts. The civil activities will gain much from the M.A.T.E. project. Civil activities should in the main be confined to E.E. Group until end 1966, apart from:-

Project 1 |
For M.I. - A.T.E. for a new series of electronic voltmeters designed with automatic testing specifically in mind. Aim at demonstration of complete system early 1967. |
| |
Project 2 |
Make manufacturing and/or marketing arrangements for designs of A.T.E. assemblies originating in E.E. Group (particularly Marconi Co.) and obtain agencies or equipment manufacturing licences etc. for equipment already commercially available (e.g. wiring testers.) |
| |
Project 3 |
A.T.E. for semiconductor device manufacturers particularly for checking; out transistors and micromin. packages. Liaise with Microelectronics Division of Marconi Co. |
