P.P.C. AGENDA.

I shall be glad if you will put the following item on the Agenda of the next P.P.C. meeting:

V.L.F. Equipment.

To note that at a meeting held on 2nd, March, the following programme was generally agreed:-

(i)

There is one basic technical problem yet to be solved on the experimental V.L.F. generator and it is expected that this will be cleared in May 1965. The instrument should then be engineered by the most appropriate manner, yet to be determined. Apart from its very low frequency connotation it can be featured as our first programmable instrument. The present plug-in enables sinewaves to be generated.

(ii)   Noise and other plug-ins for the V.L.F. Generator should be made on a experimental basis.
(iii)

The Sutcliffe spectrum analyser should be made up in an experimental form.

(iv)

Applications of V.L.F. equipment are to be investigated bearing in mind particularly the control systems experience of the English Electric Group and the Army requirements for a field tester for servo equipment. The Commercial Department are to depute one man to assist part-time in these investigations.

(v)

Discussions are to be held with Wayne Kerr Ltd. to see that our programmes are as far as possible complementary.

(vi)

Two men are to be employed full-time on these activities led by D. Grover part-time and in close collaboration with H. Sutcliffe to whom patenting facilities should be offered together with any other feasible assistance.
