Strictly Private and Confidential Tel: Harpenden 60629 6 Manland Way, Harpenden, Herts. 29th December, 1964. Sir Gordon Radley, The Chairman, The Marconi Co. Ltd., English Electric House, Strand, W.C.2.
Dear Sir Gordon, I have hesitated a long time before writing to you without the knowledge of Mr. Burnett but I feel a final attempt should be made to resolve a difficult situation that has arisen over the past year or so. I attempted to make an open approach through Group Personnel Services some weeks ago but I found the ground had been dug from beneath my feet before I arrived for interview. If you feel I have written out of turn, please disregard this letter and I will take separate action. My position at Marconi Instruments has become intolerable and my only course is to leave as soon as possible. I would like to explore the possibility of remaining within the Marconi Group and am writing to ask if there is a suitable post available in the Marconi Company. If there is any possibility of this, I should be very grateful if we could deal with the matter confidentially, without referring back to Marconi Instruments until details have been settled. I very much regret having to ask this but present circumstances make this the best course. Yours sincerely H V Beck
