Experience in the past few months has indicated the need for organizational changes in the Research Department, to make the Department more effective in introducing new devices, instruments, and techniques into the Company.

With effect from Thursday 11th June 1964, the Department will be divided into three sections as follows:-

Measurements Section,

Devices Section,

Experimental Instruments Section.

Other sections are likely to be added in future in connection with Government research contracts or other fields of interest as they may develop.

Responsible to the Research Manager for the investigation of instrumentation requirements in specified fields, such investigations to include the building of experimental instruments, exploration of applications and the determination of user requirements.

Responsible also for the preparation of proposals for projects in the Experimental Instruments Section and for assisting the Research Manager from time to time with the administration of the Department.

(Pending transfer to Engineering Department).

Responsible to Section Leader, Experimental Instruments for the design of instruments in the Programmed Testing field against concepts agreed with the Research Manager. Also assisting the Section Leader in the investigation of applications and user requirements in that field.

Responsible to the Research Manager for research into measurement technicues and for liaison with National Standards laboratories. Responsible also for the preparation of proposals for projects in the Measurements Section, and for assisting the Research Manager from time to time in general departmental problems.

Responsible to the Research Manager for research into spectrum analysis techniques and such other fields as from time to time may be determined.

C. Davison - Section Leader, Devices.

Responsible to the Research Manager for the investigation and evolution of semiconductor devices and liaison with semiconductor device laboratories. Also responsible for the preparation of proposals for projects within the Devices Section.

C. Yarker - Project Leader, Devices Section.

Responsible to the Research Manager for injecting circuit requirements on device design and for the design of circuits associated with the devices investigated or evolved in the Devices Section.
