The planned expansion of the Company over the next 5 years will call for increased attention to research and the use of new measuring techniques. It will also call for close cooperation between design and production activities of the Company.

To assist in achieving these objectives, the following appointments will become effective from the 1st January, 1964 :-

CHIEF ENGINEER:

MR. E. GARTHWAITE, M.B.E. M.I.E.E.

Mr. E. Garthwaite will relinquish the line management of the Engineering Department and will take up full time duty as senior technical adviser to the Managing Director. He will retain the title of Chief Engineer and remain a member of the top management committees. He will continue to be directly responsible for research in X-ray Image Intensifiers although design and development will be the responsibility of the Engineering Manager.

RESEARCH MANAGER:

MR. H. V. BECK_. B.Sc.. M.A. A.M.I.E.E. will be appointed Research Manager, responsible to the Managing Director for research and advanced development. He will be a member of the top management committees.

ENGINEERING MANAGER:

MR. A. G. WRAY_. M.A., M,Brit I.R.E. will be appointed Engineering Manager, responsible to the Managing Director for design and development engineering. He will be responsible for the management of the Engineering Department, excluding the Research Department, and will be a member of the top management committees.
